What my book, The Yoga of Time Travel:
How the Mind Can Defeat Time, is about.
So what's in this book?
Defeating time might seem a strange expression. However to make time
travel real, not just a theoretical exercise, will require a way of
slipping around the corner, peeking under the screens, so to speak of
our usual motion pictures of reality. As the ancient Vedas referred
to this as kala-vancana "time-cheating," we will learn how one can
escape the ongoing time-life-illusion of Samsara-the mind itself,
which you will find is your own memory in disguise-and cheat time
thus travel through time.To the best of my ability I'll explain
in very simple language, using metaphors and your own common experiences
just what you would experience by traveling through time
in a manner counter to the usual "flow."
As you see, this isn't an "ordinary" book about time travel
(if anything like that can be imagined). There are many books
today dealing with the subject and if you go on-line and use
your favorite "search engine" you will find many websites devoted
to time travel as a theoretical exercise. What makes this book
different from all of the rest, you might already have gleaned
from the title, is the bringing in of the mind and a means for
achieving time travel through use of a mind Yoga--a technique
for training the mind to carry out the processes.
Remember look for it
in your bookstore. If you don't see it there, ask your bookseller to get it for you!
What Matter into Feeling is about.
In Matter into Feeling we explore:
1. The island of ego we call the body.
2. How dream becomes reality.
3. The wave of feeling.
4. The trickster in memory.
5. The curve of life.
6. Sex and information from the future.
7. The eye of the universe.
8. How possibility becomes persona and soul.
9. The structure of love in the universe.
In bringing mind into matter we had to deal with resistance
and the trickster element. Now, similarly, we must deal with the
conflicts and resistance we face in our lives as we attempt to make
sense of the world, and learn to put up with our material demands,
our addictions, our ups and downs, successes and failures. For many
of us on the spiritual path, the great work gets trapped here--we live
and die never realizing that other phases of transformation are even
possible. In other words, we get fooled by our appetites.
To make the leap, to realize the remaining phases, requires
understanding that the "stuck" life is only a phase, much like a
child throwing a tantrum is merely "going through a phase." The
movement of matter into feeling is the second phase. And my goal
with Matter into Feeling is to help guide you through it.
What Mind into Matter is about.
In Mind into Matter my goal was to show
that within your own mind and body laid a majestic story filled with
drama, pathos, humor,
intelligence, fantasy, and fact. However, this is not the end of the story.
Much remains to be done in the "great work." How do we use these
tools to change ourselves,
might be the question remaining
to be answered. Other questions include: How do we realize these
transformational forces?
How do we live a more creative and fruitful spiritual life?
Realization of the new alchemy
brings novel forms of the creative transforming forces into play.
While the mind to matter transformation deals with primary or
archetypal images
and how these images become material, the next phase
of the great work is the transformation of the newly formed
matter into feeling.
